Buenas noticias:

Como sabes toda la "Rework Series" iba destinada a regrabar algunos de mis primeros temas que consideraba que sufrían de una producción mejorable. Una vez completada, he vuelto a compilar todos mis álbumes con las versiones finales de cada uno de los temas, y los he colgado todos aquí.

No sólo podreis escuchar y descargar todos los álbumes en sus versiones definitivas, sino que también están disponibles en formato FLAC, es decir, audio sin pérdida de calidad, al contrario que los MP3.

Todos los álbumes con el añadido "Definitive Version" en el título contienen temas modificados (En la "Rework Series" o en las recopilaciones) con respecto a las versiones originales.

Especialmente interesantes considero "El Hombre Que Venia del Siglo XX" y "El Astrouanta" / "The Astronaut", que he vuelto a mezclar por completo especialmente para esta ocasión.

Espero que disfruteis de ellos. Estas son, por fin, las versiones definitivas.

Good news:

As you know all the "Rework Series" was aimed to re-record some of my older tracks that I considered were suffering of a poor production. Once completed, I have compiled all my albums again with the final versions of every track, and you can find them all here.

Not only you can listen and download all the albums in their definitive versions, but they also are available in FLAC format, which means, quality lossless audio, in opposition to MP3.

All the albums with the phrase "Definitive Version" added to the title contain modified tracks (On the "Rework Series" or in the compilations) from their original versions.

I consider of special interest "El Hombre Que Venia del Siglo XX" and "El Astrouanta" / "The Astronaut", which have a brand new mix specially developed for this oacasion.

I really hope you enjoy them. These are, at last, their definitive versions.

Recordando 2010

Este 2010 ha sido un año de cierre de ciclo, de ordenar y arreglar las cosas antes de empezar con otras nuevas. Publiqué un álbum de material nuevo, "The Future is Over"

y a continuación empecé a echar la vista atrás, para cerrar bien esta etapa. Primero publiqué un álbum con temas inacabados o no publicados en ninguno de mis álbumes:

El siguiente paso fue repasar todas mis grabaciones ant eriores, buscando temas cuya grabación me pareciera mejorable. Ésto dio lugar a la "Rework Series", unos cuantos EPs con temas antiguos regrabados y rearreglados en versiones que considero ya definitivas:

Y, por último, publiqué una recopilación con una selección de mis temas más populares con alguna versión nueva:

De ese modo cierro una primera etapa y me tomo un descanso en busca de nueva inspiración, y para empezar a aprender cosas nuevas (Entre ellas, a tocar la guitarra eléctrica).

El proyecto Ear3 sigue adelante. Este año publicamos otros tres temas:

Además de todo ello, se publicaron numerosos vídeos en youtube con música mía, y el número de escuchas subió más que nunca, rozando ya las 300.000 totales, más de la mitad de este 2010.

Quedan pendientes de publicar una colaboración con Yvalain y los nuevos temas de Ear3, que sigue adelante.

Volveré sin prisa, espero que con nuevas ideas y un mejor sonido, cuando llegue el momento. Hay otros proyectos intensos esperando este 2011, no precisamente musicales.

El álbum, tema a tema / The album, track by track

Time is Up (Fin del tiempo)

Me parecía que empezar al álbum directamente con la "explosión" de "The Future is Over" era un poco súbito, así que preparé esta breve y rara introducción con samples y efectos para crear un ambiente previo. El efecto que busco es dejar al oyente sin idea de lo que le espera.

The Future is Over (El futuro se ha acabado)

En realidad son dos temas distintos que comparten la base rítimca. La guitarra de PeerGynt LoboGris contribuye al crescendo que lleva hasta el final.

Background Noise (Ruido de fondo)

Un día me vino a la mente esa frase: "God's voice is recorded on the background noise" (La voz de Dios está grabado sobre el ruido de fondo). Por surrealista que parezca, para mí tiene cierto sentido si nos referimos como ruido de fondo a la radiación de fondo que estudian los astrónomos como "restos" del Big Bang. Así que en realidad es como decir "¿Está Dios detrás de todo finalmente?". Y que una frase profunda la pronuncaise un robot me parecía aún más paradójico, así que sobre esa frase en el vocoder construí la base rítimca, sobre ella los acordes y sobre ella lo demás, creando un ambiente de ciencia ficción.

Brand New Retro (Nuevo retro)

El primer tema que grabé con el Fruity Loops, así que todavía estaba aprendiendo y probando. Tanto la melodía como los sonidos tienen cierto aire retro e ingenuo que me gusta.

If Right is Wrong Then Left Must Be Right (Si el derecho se equivoca, el izquierdo debe ser correcto)

Un tema de corte más o menos chill-out, al estilo de los últimos álbumes de Mike Oldfield. Cosa que no me explico, ya que esos son los discos que menos me gustan de él, pero no controlo la música que me viene a la cabeza. Lo que sí tenía claro es que PeerGynt LoboGris tenía que meter una de sus guitarras en el puente, y me alegra acertar.

The Big Groove - Bathyscaphe (El gran surco - Batiscafo)

El peso del tema recae en el bajo y el ritmo machacón. Tenía ciertas dudas en mantener o no el riff del saxo, pero finalmente creo que queda bien. El tema desemboca sin previo aviso en un fragmento de música ambient que representa el fondo del océano ("Bathyscaphe")

Heart of the Galaxy (El corazón de la galaxia)

Un tema sencillo, donde lo más reseñable es que al principio el compás es 2/4 y al final 3/4.

Promised Land (La tierra prometida)

Seguramente el tema que corre el riesgo más grande de no gustar a los que suelen escucharme. En realidad se trata de una especia de intento de hacer música negra. Tiene un poco de hip-hop, y bastante jazz y gospel. Sigo intentando poder grabar improvisaciones de jazz decentes con los teclados, a falta de contar un saxo real. Finalmente, un fragmento de uno de los célebres discursos de Martin Luther King nos lleva al final gospel. No sólo me gusta lo que dice MLK, sino cómo lo hace. Creo que la emoción que trasnmiten sus palabras son pura música a su manera.

From the Softer Whispers Come the Loudest Sreams (De los susurros más suaves provienen los gritos más altos)

El título alude a la naturaleza de la música. La melodía principal se repite a lo largo del tema, pero mientras la primera mitad es calmada y lenta, la segunda es desbocada y furiosa. De nuevo PeerGynt LoboGris me regala un solo fantástico. Es lo más parecido a música dance que he hecho.

Time is Up

It seemed to me that starting the album directly with the "explosion" of "The Future is Over" was a bit sudden, so I prepared this weird and brief introduction with samples and effects to create the mood. I want the listener not knowing what to expect next.

The Future is Over

They are actually two different themes that share the rhythmic base. PeerGynt's guitar contributes to the crescendo that leads to the final.

Background Noise

One day to my mind came the phrase: "God's voice is Recorded on the background noise". Surreal as it seems, it makes some sense to me if we refer as background noise to the background radiation studied by astronomers as "remnants" of the Big Bang. So it really is like saying "Is God behind it all in the end?". And that one deep sentence is said by a robot seemed even more paradoxical, so over that phrase on the vocoder I built the rhythmic base, and over it I added the chords and the rest, creating a sci-fi environment.

Brand New Retro

The first song I recorded with Fruity Loops, so I was still learning and testing. Both the melody and the sounds are retro and kind of naive in a way I like.

If Right is Wrong Then Left Must Be Right

A theme of a more or less chill-out style, in the vein of the latest albums of Mike Oldfield (Thing I do not understand, because those are the albums that I like least, but I don't control the music that comes to mind). What I knew for sure is PeerGynt had to put one of his guitars on the bridge, and I'm glad I got it right.

The Big Groove - Bathyscaphe

The weight of the track is on the bass and on the insistent rhythm. I had some doubts whether to maintain the sax riff, but ultimately I think it is good. The track leads without notice to an ambient piece of music that represents the bottom of the ocean ("bathyscaphe)

Heart of the Galaxy

A simple theme, where the most remarkable fact is that at first the compass is 2 / 4 and at the end is 3 / 4.

Promised Land

Surely the track that runs the greatest risk of not being liking by those who listen to me regullary. It really is a kind of attempt to make black music. It has a bit of hip-hop, jazz and gospel. I keep trying to record decent jazz improvisation with keyboards, in the absence of having a real sax. Finally, a fragment of one of the famous speeches of Martin Luther King brings us to the gospel final. Not only I like what MLKsays, but also how. I think the emotion his words transmit are pure music in its way.

From the Softer Whispers Come the Loudest Screams

The title refers to the nature of the music on this number. The main melody is repeated throughout the track, but while the first half is calm and slow, the second is unbridled and furious. Again PeerGynt delivers another great solo. It's the closest thing to dance music I've ever done.

Mi nuevo álbum "The Future is Over" ya está disponible en Jamendo. 8 temas divididos en 10 cortes. Creo que mi principal objetivo en este álbum ha sido sorprender a mis oyentes habituales. Espero haberlo logrado.

Estoy dando los últimos retoques al álbum. Si no pasa nada, ¡ esta misma semana puede estar acabado y publicado ! Algunos apuntes sobre el nuevo álbum / Some snippets about the new album

El título provisional ha cambiado a "The Future is Over" (El futuro ha terminado), aunque todavía no me atrevo a asegurar que éste vaya a ser el título final. Constará de ocho temas, y durará algo más de 40 minutos. PeerGynt LoboGris colabora con su guitarra en tres de los temas. Hay una mezcla de estilos bastante chocante, pero creo que de algún modo el resultado es musicalmente coherente.

Espero que en tres o cuatro semanas esté acabado.

The provisional title has changed to "The Future is Over”, although I still don't dare to state this will be the final one. It will contain eight tracks, and it will last something more than 40 minutes. PeerGynt LoboGris plays some fantastic guitar in three of the numbers. There is a quite odd mixture of styles, but I think that, somehow the result is musicaly coherent.

I expect to finish it in three or four weeks.

Citando a Holst / Quoting Holst

Decía Gustav Holst que no se debería componer nada salvo aquella música que te resulte realmente molesto no componer. Sin llegar a ser tan extremo, en parte estoy de acuerdo con la frase. En muchas ocasiones los mejores temas nacen como nacen los demás, pero no te los puedes quitar de la cabeza durante todo el día, y mientras estás en el trabajo o, incluso, haciendo cualquier otra cosa con la que también disfrutes, estás deseando tener un rato para seguir trabajando éllos. En el próximo álbum hay también alguno de éstos... Aunque no creo que Holst se sintiese especialmente orgulloso de ellos.

Gustav Holst said "Never compose anything unless the not composing of it becomes a positive nuisance to you". Without being so extreme, I partially agree with that statement. Quite often the best themes are born like the rest, but there's no way to get them out of your head. While you are at work, or even enjoying any other activity you may fancy you're hoping for that moment when you can keep on working on them. In my upcoming album there are a some tracks of this kind... although I don't think Holst would be specially proud of them.

Título Provisional / Provisional Title

De momento, el título para mi próximo álbum será "The Future is Back" ("El Futuro Ha Vuelto"). De todos modos es más que probable que sufra algún cambio de aquí a la publicación (Que es espero que sea en Abril como muy tarde).

To this day, the title for my upcoming album will be "The Future is Back". However, it's very likely it will be changed until its release (Which I expect to happen in April the latest).

Trabajo en marcha / Work in progress

Actualmente estoy trabajando en tres proyectos diferentes:

• El nuevo tema de Ear3, que ha compuesto Gael y para el que estoy grabando pistas
• Una colaboración para un nuevo tema de PeerGynt LoboGris del que no quiero dar muchos detalles para que los de él en su blog
• El primero de los tres álbumes que os anuncié quiero publicar este año. Va bastante avanzado y contaré con alguna colaboración. Os iré contando más muy pronto.

Right now I'm working in three different projects:

• The new Ear3 number, composed by Gael, for which I'm recording tracks.
• A collaboration for a brand new track by PeerGynt LoboGris, from which I don't want to reveal much so he can do in his blog
• The first of the three albums I announced you I want to release this year. It's doing pretty well and I'll be getting some nice collaborations. I'll be telling you more very soon.
