Una versión remasterizada del tema de "Celestia", y editada para pasar de los 10 minutos y pico del original a algo más de 7.

ORIENTE Y OCCIDENTE

Otro tema que ha mutado en algo totalmente distinto. "El Hombre que Venía del Siglo XX", parte 5, es ahora un tema que en 3 minutos y medio pasa de música cósmica a prog, un fragmento de música japonesa y jazz. Y todo ello conservando la melodía original.

HIC SUNT DRACONES (Con PeerGynt LoboGris)

El tema de "El Astronauta" cuenta ahora con la guitarra de PeerGynt LoboGris, en las secciones primera y tercera, haciendo de el tema algo mucho más satisfactorio. Es como si el tema estuviera pidiendo a gritos esa guitarra.

VOCES EN LA ESCALERA DEL MISTERIO

Este tema es un fondo musical en el que se retoman algunos de los temas de “El Último Peldaño” y “La Escalera del Misterio”, sobre el que se escuchan fragmentos de audio de toda la historia del programa.

Another track that has mutated into something completely different. "El Hombre Que Venía del Siglo XX - Part 5”, is now 3 and a half minutes trip comprising cosmic music, prog, Japanese music and jazz. And all this is done retaining the original melody!

HERE BE DRAGONS (With PeerGynt LoboGris)

The track from "The Astronaut" has now exciting guitar parts by PeerGynt LoboGris in the first and third sections. I always felt this number was shouting out for a real guitar.

VOICES IN THE MYSTERY STAIRWAY

This theme is a musical background - with some snippets and variations of themes taken from the new tracks for this album – for audio snippets from the entire history of the show.

El segundo tema nuevo del álbum. Tiene intencionalmente una textura más orquestal y "peliculera". En mi cabeza tenía que servir como la banda sonora de un thriller. La percusión pretende añadir un matiz ancestral a la música.

LA LLAMA INMORTAL (Con PeerGynt LoboGris)

Originalmente, "El fuego que corre", de "Álbum de Fotos". De nuevo una melodía que me gustaba pero un tema que estaba horriblemente grabado. Ahora la guitarra sintetizada ha sido reemplazada por la guitarra real de PeerGynt LoboGris, y el resultado me parece maravilloso. El tema ha sido reestructurado y muchas partes regrabadas, acercándose por fin a lo que siempre había tenido en mente.

VOCES EN LA LUNA

Se trata de la parte 6 de "El hombre que venía del Siglo XX". He añadido nuevas pistas, he cambiado la instrumentación, y he suprimido las voces de los astronautas.

LINEAS EN EL CIELO (Con Gael Berthon)

Se trata de "Bitville Night Skyline", pero ha cambiado lo suficiente para ser un tema nuevo. Gael Berthon añade un genial groove con el bajo, el comienzo del tema cambia por completo y la melodía principal la lleva ahora un saxo. Lo que digo, un tema nuevo.

The second new theme of the album. Intentionally has an “film-soundtrack” orchestral texture. In my head it had to sound as the soundtrack to a thriller. Percussion intends to add and ancient flavour.

INMORTAL FLAME (With PeerGynt LoboGris)

Originally, "El Fuego que Corre" in "Album de Fotos". Once again, a song that I liked but that was horribly recorded. Now the synth guitar has been replaced by an actual real guitar by PeerGynt LoboGris and the result is wonderful. The track has been restructured and rewriten, finally coming to what I always had in mind.

VOICES IN THE MOON

This is Part 6 of "el Hombre que Venia del Siglo XX" I added new tracks, changed the instrumentation, and deleted the voices of the astronauts.

THE WORMHOLE

No changes on the version from "The Astronaut"

LINES IN THE SKY (With Gael Berthon)

It was "Bitville Night Skyline", but changed enough to be a new theme. Gael Berthon adds a great bass groove. Besides, the beginning of the track changes completely and the main melody is now played by a sax. As I say, a new theme indeed.

EL ÚLTIMO PELDAÑO

Un tema que nació como una sintonía de 20 segundos, pero que ha crecido hasta ser un tema de 4 minutos, electrónico, rítmico y, creo, apropiado. Como curiosidad, entre la música, si prestais atención escuchareis una voz que dice palabras ininteligibles. Se trata de psicofonías grabadas por el equipo del programa.

WOLFVILLE (Con PeerGynt LoboGris)

Se trata de una nueva versión de "Welcome to Bitville", del álbum "Life in Bitville". El tema ha sido remasterizado, remezclado y, lo más importante, alargado con un final en la que PeerGynt LoboGris toca una maravillosa sección con varias guitarras. Si os gustó la versión original espero que coincidais conmigo en que esta versión es muy superior.

EXILIO

Originalmente, "Desde el Exilio", de "Álbum de Fotos". Una melodía que siempre me gustó pero que no estaba todo lo bien grabada que debiera. El tema ha sido íntegramente regrabado, con otros instrumentos y un tempo algo más lento.

LA TORMENTA QUE SE ACERCA (Con Gael Berthon)

Se trata de la parte 14 de "El Hombre que venía del Siglo XX". Éste tema siempre había sido de mis favoritos, pero creo que es de los menos escuchados. He pensado que merecía una posición más prominente en este disco, para ganar protagonismo. Ha sido regrabado (Notareis que la batería cambia, así como el solo de saxo), las voces se han suprimido, y Gael Berthon (CSW Studio) ha grabado la parte del bajo de una forma fantástica.

THE FINAL STAIR

One theme originally created 20 seconds long, but grown to be a around4 minutes. Electronic, rhythmic, and I think, appropriate to the subject. As a curiosity, among the music, if you listen carefully, you can hear a voice saying unintelligible words. This are real psychophonies recorded by the show team.

WOLFVILLE (With PeerGynt LoboGris)

This is a new version of "Welcome to Bitville", from the album "Life in Bitville”. The track has been remastered, remixed, and most importantly, anlonged with an extended section in which PeerGynt LoboGris plays several wondeful guitars. If you liked the original version, I hope you will agree with me this version is far superior.

EXILE

Originally, "Desde el Exilio " from “Album de Fotos”. A melody that I liked but that was not recorded as well as it should. The track has been entirely re-recorded, with different instruments and a slightly slower tempo.

THE APPROACHING STORM (With Gael Berthon)

This is Part 14 of "El Hombre que venía del Siglo XX". This theme has always been one of my favorites, but it’s also one of the less listened to. I thought it deserved a more prominent position in this record. It has been re-recorded (You’ll notice changes in the drums and the saxophone solo), the voices have been removed, and Gael Berthon (CSW Studio) has recorded the bass part in a fantastic way.

Estoy finalizando los dos últimos temas del nuevo álbum, así que creo que es un buen momento para anunciarlo. En unos días estará completado "El Último Peldaño", que incluirá material nuevo y viejo con un importante lavado de cara.

El álbum es fruto de la confluencia de dos iniciativas distintas:

Por un lado, Juanjo Abenza me propuso hace ya un tiempo componer unas pequeñas cuñas para usarlas en la cabecera de los videocast que estaban preparando en el programa de radio "El Último Peldaño". Preparé unas cuñas de 20 segundos, las cuales estaban pidiendo a gritos ser más largas. De modo que usando alguna de esas ideas preparé un par de temas nuevos.

Por otro lado, en "El Último Peldaño" se han estado usando temas míos en el último año, lo que me provocaba sensaciones encontradas. Es un placer que lo hagan, pero muchos de esos temas estaban tomados de los primeros álbumes y sentía que ni la grabación ni la interpretación eran lo bastante buenas. Así que decidí recopilar los temas que se han estado usando (En este sentido no es una recopilación de mis favoritas, sino una selección realizada por Joaquín Abenza, conductor del programa) y arreglarlos, regrabándolos si era necesario. Puedo aseguraros que muchos de los temas han cambiado tanto que para mí son temas nuevos.

El resultado son 15 temas, tres de los cuales son totalmente nuevos, y el resto han sufrido una transformación más que importante. He contado, además, con la colaboración de dos grandes músicos y amigos que han hecho del proyecto algo muy especial. En los siguientes posts, a la espera de la publicación, iré desvelando más detalles así como los temas que incluye el álbum.

I'm finishing the last two tracks from my upcoming album, so I think it's a great chance to announce it. In a few days "El Ultimo Peldaño (The final stair)" will be finished, including new and seriously reworked old material.

This album is the product of the confluence of two different initiatives::

In one hand, Juanjo Abenza asked me composing brief themes to be used in the heading of the videocast he was working on for the radio show "El Ultimo Peldaño". I delivered a couple of 20-second themes, which I thought were good enough to be longer. So, working on those original snippets I came up with two new tracks.

In the other hand, in the "El Último Peldaño" show my music has been extensively used for the last year, which provoked mixed feelings in myself. It's a real pleasure that they do so, but many of those themes were taken from my earliest albums, and I felt that neither the recording nor the performance were good enough. So I decided to compile all those tracks (In that sense it's not a compilation of my own favourites, but a selection made by Joaquin Abenza, show's conductor) and arrange them, recording them again when neccesary. I can assure many of the themes changed so much they are brand new to me.

The result is 15 tracks, three of the totally new, and the rest deeply transformed. I had the support of two big musicians and friends who made something very special of tis project. On upcoming posts, while waiting for the release, I'll start revealing further details as well as the tracks included.

Fe de vida (y dos podcasts) / Living Proof (and two podcasts)

Pues sí, paso por el blog para demostraros que sigo vivo y bien. Aunque espero daros información más detallada en breve, os puedo contar que estoy trabajando en cuatro proyectos musicales distintos, y que, entre temas nuevos y regrabados, tengo unos treinta y tantos encima de la mesa. Tengo pendiente una colaboración en un disco multi-artista, más temas nuevos con dos músicos más, un álbum seminuevo con temas nuevos y viejos rearreglados y al menos otro álbum de música nueva.

¿Cuándo estará todo listo? No lo sé. Si algo he aprendido es que las prisas no son buenas, así que quiero ir despacio para que el resultado final me satisfaga. Creo que las primeras cosas empezarán a salir muy pronto.

Cambiando de tercio, quiero agradecer y compartir un par de páginas que otros tantos amigos usan para compartir podcasts musicales heterogéneos y muy interesantes.

• Mike Feast hace mezclas de música, principalmente de corte electrónico y "bailable", aunque consigue colar por medio temas más tranquilos e introspectivos, como los míos. Ha usado música mía en "Palace Towerfall", "Transition Portal" y "Baltimore Trip"
• Mental Nomad también comparte programas musicales muy variados e interesantes. Ha usado música mía en los programas 113 y 121.

Quiero darles las gracias a los dos, por compartir tanta música con todo el mundo y por usar música mía en particular.

Yes, here I am again to prove I'm still alive and well. Though I expect to give you more information soon, I can tell you now I'm working in four different musical projects, and over my table, among new, older and rearranged, lay round thirty themes. On the way come a collaboration in a new various artists album, new music with two fellow musicians, a semi-new album with new music and old re-recorded themes, and at least an album of brand new music.

When will all this be ready? I don't know. One thing I've learnt is you have to avoid hurrying when making music, so I'll try to go on slowly so the final result satisfies me. I think first things will start coming up very soon.

Changing subject, I want to thanks and share a couple of webs that two friends use for sharing heterogeneous and really interesting music podcasts.

• Mike Feast mixes music, mainly electronic and danceable, though he succeeds inserting some more peacefull music, like mine. He used my music in "Palace Towerfall", "Transition Portal" y "Baltimore Trip"
• Mental Nomad also shares music programs really varied and nice programs. He used my music on shows 113 y 121.
  

I want to thank both for sharing so much music with everyone, and for sharing mine particullary.

Números, estadísticas, listas / Numbers, statistics, lists

Hace poco más de dos años que publiqué mi primer album con una licencia de Creative Commons, y es una ocasión como cualquier otra para echar un vistazo a la respuesta que han tenido los álbumes que he publicado en ese tiempo. En total, y según los contadores de jamendo (que no es que vayan muy bien, la verdad) en estos dos años se he escuchado algún tema mío desde la web 80.200 veces, y se han descargado 6.856 veces alguno de los 9 álbumes (En realidad 8 y un single). Eso sin contar las descargas por medio de torrent y p2p. Es decir, una pasada.

El álbum más escuchado y que más ha gustado, con diferencia, es "Celestia", que ocupa él solo la tercera parte de las escuchas y las descargas. Sin embargo, si me fijo en las escuchas y descargas en función del tiempo que llevan publicados, es una alegría ver que "El Astronauta", en sus dos versiones, es el que más escuchas y descargas por día ha tenido, ya que es el álbum del que estoy más orgulloso.

Resumiendo, y para los amantes de las estadísticas:

Muchas gracias a todos los que os habeis tomado la molestia de escuchar alguno de mis temas, os haya gustado o no. Es un privilegio para mí.

A bit longer than two years ago I published my first album under CreativeCommons License, and it's an ocasion as good as any other to take a look at the response my albums had during that time. In total, and accordimng to jamendo's counters (Not very reliable, by the way), during these two years any of my tracks has been listened to 80,200 times from the web, and any of my 9 albums (8 albums and 1 single) has been downloaded 6,586 times. All this without counting torrent and p2p downloads. In sum... Amazing !

The most listened and liked album is, and by a big difference, "Celestia", which holds the third part of the total listens and downloads. However, looking at the listens and downloads by total time online, it's a joy finding that "The Astronaut", in both versions, it's the one with more listens and downloads by day, since it's the album I'm most proud of.
In sum, for the lovers of statistics:

BlueSpirits Single

Ayer mismo se publicó un avance del álbum de BlueSpirits. Son dos temas largos con voz y un par de breves interludios instrumentales. Mi contribución, en este single, son los teclados de los dos temas largos.

Yesterday saw the release of an advance from BlueSpirits album. There are two long songs and two brief instrumental interludes. My contribution to the single are tha keyboards of both longer tracks.
