Citando a Holst / Quoting Holst

Decía Gustav Holst que no se debería componer nada salvo aquella música que te resulte realmente molesto no componer. Sin llegar a ser tan extremo, en parte estoy de acuerdo con la frase. En muchas ocasiones los mejores temas nacen como nacen los demás, pero no te los puedes quitar de la cabeza durante todo el día, y mientras estás en el trabajo o, incluso, haciendo cualquier otra cosa con la que también disfrutes, estás deseando tener un rato para seguir trabajando éllos. En el próximo álbum hay también alguno de éstos... Aunque no creo que Holst se sintiese especialmente orgulloso de ellos.

Gustav Holst said "Never compose anything unless the not composing of it becomes a positive nuisance to you". Without being so extreme, I partially agree with that statement. Quite often the best themes are born like the rest, but there's no way to get them out of your head. While you are at work, or even enjoying any other activity you may fancy you're hoping for that moment when you can keep on working on them. In my upcoming album there are a some tracks of this kind... although I don't think Holst would be specially proud of them.

Título Provisional / Provisional Title

De momento, el título para mi próximo álbum será "The Future is Back" ("El Futuro Ha Vuelto"). De todos modos es más que probable que sufra algún cambio de aquí a la publicación (Que es espero que sea en Abril como muy tarde).

To this day, the title for my upcoming album will be "The Future is Back". However, it's very likely it will be changed until its release (Which I expect to happen in April the latest).

Sobre la música libre / About free music

Me resulta curioso que el término “música libre” proceda en realidad de una mala traducción del inglés, ya que la palabra “free” significa tanto “libre” como “gratuito”, de modo que en realidad, al decir “free music” no estamos diciendo “música libre”, sino “música gratuita”.

Pese a ello, creo que la connotación de libertad está más que justificada, ya que la música libre puede ser copiada, distribuida, versionada, y reusada prácticamente sin límites, en función de los lejos que quiera llegar el autor, siempre que sea para un fin no lucrativo (Es decir, siempre que se use para producir otro producto “libre”).

Sin embargo, la música de pago es de uso exclusivo del comprador, quien no puede distribuirla, comunicarla, modificarla.. ni siquiera sin ánimo de lucro, sin que aparentemente esté vulnerando todo tipo de leyes. En otras palabras: Las canciones grabadas en un CD deben permanecer en el CD, y “trabajar” sólo para aquel que las ha comprado. ¿Y no es eso muy parecido a la esclavitud?

I find it peculiar that the term “música libre” comes in fact from a bad translation of the English “free music”, since the word “free” means both “free” and “gratuitous”, so when we say “música libre” we are not saying “free music”, but “gratuitous music”.

In spite of it, I believe that the freedom connotation is more than justified, since free music can be copied, be distributed, modified, and practically reused without limits, depending on how far the author wants to get, whenever it is for a nonlucrative aim (That is to say, whenever it is used to produce another “free” product).

Nevertheless, the payment music is of exclusive use of the buyer, who cannot distribute it, communicate it, modify it. not even without profit spirit, without apparently infringing all type of laws. In other words: The songs recorded in a CD must remain in the CD, and “work” only for the one who bought them. And isn’t that very similar to slavery?

Trabajo en marcha / Work in progress

Actualmente estoy trabajando en tres proyectos diferentes:

• El nuevo tema de Ear3, que ha compuesto Gael y para el que estoy grabando pistas
• Una colaboración para un nuevo tema de PeerGynt LoboGris del que no quiero dar muchos detalles para que los de él en su blog
• El primero de los tres álbumes que os anuncié quiero publicar este año. Va bastante avanzado y contaré con alguna colaboración. Os iré contando más muy pronto.

Right now I'm working in three different projects:

• The new Ear3 number, composed by Gael, for which I'm recording tracks.
• A collaboration for a brand new track by PeerGynt LoboGris, from which I don't want to reveal much so he can do in his blog
• The first of the three albums I announced you I want to release this year. It's doing pretty well and I'll be getting some nice collaborations. I'll be telling you more very soon.

Propósito de Año Nuevo... en Febrero / New Year's good intentions... in February

Mejor tarde que nunca, supongo.

En realidad es sólo un propósito que espero ser capaz de cumplir: Actualizar el blog como mínimo semanalmente, con entradas seguramente algo más breves, pero que no sólo consistan en noticias, sino también en reflexiones y comentarios en general.

¡ Me río yo de dejar de fumar !

Actually it's only an intention I hope I'm able to accomplish: Updating this blog at least once per week, with probably shorter entries, and not only about news, but also thoughts and general comments.

Quitting smoking? Ha!
